Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Family Practice Nurse Practitioner for an engaging 65-day assignment in North Carolina. The schedule is primarily 8 am - 4:45 pm, Monday through Friday, with a requirement to travel to an Ashe clinic once or twice a week for 12 pm - 8 pm shifts. This role involves providing comprehensive primary care for children and adults, including gynecological and prenatal care, screenings, immunizations, and various community health services such as maternal and farmworker health programs, behavioral health, and family planning.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Order medications and maintain healthcare plans for routine, recurring medical conditions.
  • Counsel patients and families on health maintenance, preventive medicine, and illness care.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement patient care plans.
  • Provide primary care for children and adults.
  • Deliver gynecological and prenatal care.
  • Perform health screenings and immunizations.
  • Engage in maternal health, mother-baby home visiting, and farmworker health initiatives.
  • Manage case management, outreach, behavioral health, communicable disease, and family planning services.
  • Apply judgment to determine the appropriate course of action within the legal scope of practice.
  • Practice in strict collaboration with a supervising physician, who must be immediately available for consultation.

  • Flexibility to travel to an Ashe clinic once or twice a week, with hours from 12 pm - 8 pm on those days.
  • Licensure: Licensed as a Physician Assistant (NC Medical Board) or approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner (NC Board of Nursing/Medical Board).
  • Skills: Knowledge of interviewing techniques, general medicine, and disease states; ability to detect abnormalities and accurately record clinical findings.
  • Training: Successful completion of an accredited PA or NP program.
