Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - General Needed in Connecticut

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - General for a 30-day assignment in Connecticut. The role involves randomized shifts, 2-5 shifts per month for 6 months, working evenings from 5pm-6am. Responsibilities include providing consults, rounding, and assisting the on-call surgeon with various emergency and trauma cases.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide consults and rounding
• Assist the on-call surgeon from 5pm-6am
• Manage ED consults
• Perform bedside procedures and assist with trauma resuscitations alongside emergency surgeons
• Address vascular emergencies, including ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) and acute limb ischemia
• Handle acute abdomen cases such as appendicitis, bowel obstructions, perforated ulcers, and acute cholecystitis
• Manage trauma cases including stab wounds, gunshot wounds, motor vehicle crash injuries, and blunt force trauma
• Assist with emergency intubations and placing chest tubes
• Apply traction, reduce joint dislocations, and manage acute fracture splinting
• Perform access and monitoring by placing central venous lines, arterial lines, and large-bore peripheral IVs
