Job Description

We are seeking a General Surgery Nurse Practitioner for a 30-day assignment with our client in Connecticut, starting Oct 5, 2026. This role involves night shifts from 5pm-6am, where you will focus on comprehensive patient care, including consults, rounding, and actively assisting the on-call surgeon with emergency procedures and managing a wide range of surgical cases.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide night shift coverage from 5pm-6am, including consults and rounding.
  • Actively assist the on-call surgeon with various surgical duties.
  • Perform bedside procedures and assist with trauma resuscitations alongside emergency surgeons.
  • Manage vascular emergencies, including ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) and acute limb ischemia.
  • Address acute abdomen cases such as appendicitis, bowel obstructions, perforated ulcers, and acute cholecystitis.
  • Handle trauma cases like stab wounds, gunshot wounds, motor vehicle crash injuries, and blunt force trauma.
  • Assist with emergency intubations and the placement of chest tubes.
  • Apply traction, reduce joint dislocations, and manage acute fracture splinting.
  • Perform access and monitoring procedures, including placing central venous lines, arterial lines, and large-bore peripheral IVs.
