Job Description

We are seeking a Physician specializing in Neurology for an inpatient neurohospitalist assignment in South Carolina. This 7-day assignment begins Dec 21, 2026, offering a 7-on / 7-off schedule with 10-hour onsite shifts from 8a to 6p, including participation in overnight call. The role involves providing comprehensive neurohospitalist coverage, managing diverse neurological conditions including acute stroke patients, and coordinating care across various hospital specialties.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide inpatient Neurohospitalist coverage on a 7-on / 7-off schedule
  • Manage inpatient neurology consults and respond to ED neurology calls
  • Evaluate and manage acute stroke patients both in person and via telemedicine
  • Perform acute stroke evaluations and determine appropriate treatment pathway
  • Manage neurological conditions in ICU and critical care patients
  • Provide daily rounding and follow-up for hospitalized neurology patients
  • Coordinate care with Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Neurosurgery, and other hospital-based specialties
  • Participate in overnight call approximately 4–5 times per week
  • Review imaging, diagnostic testing, and laboratory results to guide treatment

  • Required Expertise and Procedures: Acute stroke evaluation and management, TNK administration and management, evaluation for mechanical thrombectomy, tele-stroke evaluations, NIH Stroke Scale assessments, acute neurologic assessment in the ED, ICU neurological evaluations, seizure and status epilepticus management, altered mental status / encephalopathy evaluation, interpretation of CT, CTA, MRI, and other neurologic imaging, inpatient neurological consultations, tPA Administration, Lumbar Puncture, EEG Interpretation, Acute Ischemic Stroke, Intracerebral Hemorrhage (ICH), Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (SAH), Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA), Seizure / Status Epilepticus, Migraine / Headache Disorders, Dementia / Cognitive Disorders, Brain Tumor / CNS Neoplasms, Neuropathy / Peripheral Nerve Disorders, Spinal Cord Disorders
