Locum Tenens Physician Assistant - Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Needed in PA

Job Description

We are seeking a Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Physician Assistant in Pennsylvania for a 40-day assignment starting Dec 14, 2026. This role involves working a mix of 12-hour day and 13-14 hour night shifts within a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The Physician Assistant will be responsible for providing acute care and performing a variety of procedures, including arterial and central venous line placement, chest tube insertion, and endotracheal intubation.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide acute care within the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
• Work a combination of 12-hour day shifts (typically 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM or 6:30 PM) and 13-14 hour night shifts (typically 5:00 PM or 5:30 PM - 7:00 AM or 7:30 AM).
• Manage a mix of daytime and nighttime patient care, with an emphasis on night shifts.
• Perform procedures including arterial, central venous, and chest tube placement, endotracheal intubation, lumbar punctures, and angiograms.
• Demonstrate comfort level with procedures such as arterial, central venous, and chest tube placement.
• Exhibit comfort level with Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs).

• Required Board Certifications: Acute Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC)

• Work Setting: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
• Patient Volume: 4-8 patients per APP
• Staffing Mix: 4 APPs on during the day, 3 APPs on during the night
