Know a colleague who'd thrive with more control over their schedule? A friend who you'd trust to take the next shift? Send them our way — if it's a match, you both win.
Refer a ColleagueEarn $100 when your eligible referral completes a qualifying recruiter conversation within 30 business days. If they go on to work qualifying shifts, you could earn an additional reward of up to $10,000. It's one of the most competitive bonuses in the locum tenens industry. (No, seriously — if you find a bigger one, let us know.)
A recruiter reaches out, name-drops you as the connector, and finds out what they're actually looking for in their next gig. Zero pressure, zero obligation.
Eligible referral + qualifying recruiter conversation within 30 working business days = $100 in your pocket. Extra shifts worked = extra reward.
The $100 offer, eligible clinician types, larger reward, timing, and other conditions are subject to the final program terms.

The conversation reward requires an eligible referral to complete a qualifying recruiter conversation within 30 business days. The clinician must complete at least 10 qualifying shifts within 12 months of the referral for the shift reward to begin. Shift rewards are paid quarterly after verification. The $100 conversation reward is additional to the shift reward, so the maximum combined payout for a physician, CRNA, NP, PA or dentist referral is $10,100. See the full program terms.
Think of the colleague who's always talking about wanting more flexibility, a fresh setting, or something different. Physicians, dentists, CRNAs, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants across all specialties are welcome.
Nope. Your first reward is tied to them completing a qualifying recruiter conversation within 30 business days — that's it. A bigger reward may kick in if they go on to work the required shifts.
A qualifying conversation is a completed recruiter conversation that confirms your referral’s profession, specialty, basic program eligibility, and interest in locum tenens work.
Go for it. Every referral gets reviewed on its own.
Some existing relationships or recent activity might make a referral ineligible. It’s on us to check each one against the program terms.
Yes, we'll always mention you when we reach out. So loop them in before you submit their info.
Individuals may submit referrals except employees, clients, and vendors of Barton Associates, Wellhart, or their affiliates. There is no limit on the number of people an eligible individual may refer. Each referral is evaluated separately.
You may refer a physician (MD or DO), certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), nurse practitioner (NP), dentist, or physician assistant (PA) in any specialty. The referred clinician must:
Job action assignments are excluded from this Program.
Submit your referral through an approved Barton Associates or Wellhart referral form. Include your name and contact information and the referred clinician’s name, profession, specialty, and current contact information.
Speak with the clinician before submitting their information. By submitting a referral, you confirm that they have agreed to have their contact information shared with Barton Associates and Wellhart for outreach about locum tenens opportunities.
A referral is received on the date the completed form is submitted. Barton Associates and Wellhart will review eligibility and may request information needed to verify the referral. Submitting a referral does not establish eligibility for either reward.
You may earn $100 if an eligible referred clinician completes a qualifying conversation with a Barton Associates or Wellhart recruiter within 30 calendar days after the referral submission date.
For this purpose, a qualifying conversation is a substantive, two-way discussion in which the recruiter confirms the clinician’s professional background, basic eligibility, and interest in discussing locum tenens opportunities. A voicemail, unanswered outreach, scheduling exchange, or brief administrative interaction does not qualify. The clinician does not have to accept an assignment to qualify for this reward.
The $100 qualifying conversation reward is in addition to any shift-based reward earned under Section 5. It is not deducted from the shift-based reward.
An eligible referred clinician must complete at least 10 rewarded shifts within 12 months after the referral submission date for the referrer to qualify for a shift-based reward. If the clinician does not complete 10 rewarded shifts within that period, no shift-based reward is earned.
Once the clinician completes the 10th rewarded shift, the referrer earns a reward retroactive to the first rewarded shift:
| Referred clinician | Referred clinician | Referred clinician | Referred clinician |
|---|---|---|---|
| CRNA, NP, or PA | $100 | 100 | $10,000 |
| Physician (MD or DO) or Dentist | $200 | 50 | $10,000 |
A rewarded shift is a standard 8-, 10-, or 12-hour day for the applicable specialty. Only eligible shifts completed within 12 months after the referral submission date count toward the reward. The earning window closes at the end of those 12 months, even if the $10,000 cap has not been reached.
The maximum combined reward for one referral is $10,100: up to $100 for a qualifying conversation plus up to $10,000 for rewarded shifts, if the requirements for both rewards are met.
Shift-based referral rewards are paid quarterly after the applicable shifts are verified. The $100 qualifying conversation reward will be paid [insert approved payment schedule] after the conversation and referral eligibility are verified.
Barton Associates or Wellhart will contact the referrer about earned rewards using the contact information provided. A referrer may need to provide information reasonably required to issue payment and comply with applicable tax reporting requirements. Referrers are responsible for any taxes associated with rewards they receive.
To protect the referred clinician’s privacy, reward updates may confirm whether a reward has been earned without disclosing details of the clinician’s recruiting conversations, assignments, or compensation.
Referrals must be genuine introductions. A referrer may not submit someone’s information without their permission, submit false or misleading information, or make promises about a job, pay rate, or reward on behalf of Barton Associates or Wellhart.
Barton Associates and Wellhart may verify referral information and deny a reward for a referral that does not meet these terms or involves fraud or misuse. They may modify or end the Program prospectively by posting updated terms. Any change to rewards for referrals already submitted will be handled under [insert approved rule].
If you publicly endorse Barton Associates or Wellhart while promoting your referral link or the Program, clearly disclose that you may receive a referral reward. The FTC advises disclosure of financial connections that could affect how an endorsement is understood. ftc.gov
