Job Description

Our client in Illinois is seeking a Board Certified Cardiologist for a 25-day locum tenens assignment, beginning Aug 17, 2026. This role focuses on non-invasive cardiology, involving responsibilities such as reading echoes, Holters, and ECGs. The schedule includes a shared call rotation with specific weekend duties to ensure comprehensive patient care.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide non-invasive cardiology services, including reading echoes, Holters, and ECGs.
  • Manage new patient consults, concluding at 3 pm Monday-Thursday and 4 pm Friday.
  • Complete all EKGs, Holter monitors, and event recorders during daily service hours (8 am - 5 pm).
  • Participate in a shared call rotation, typically 3 calls within a 15-day period (Wednesday, Saturday, Wednesday).
  • Handle weekend call duties, which may include Saturday or Sunday coverage, from 8 am to 8 am the following day, with continued coverage until 2 pm on Sunday for patient completion and new patient visits.
  • Coordinate with an additional physician for Sunday call and collaborate with APPs for weekend patient rounding.
  • Address call inquiries by phone after 4 pm, unless an emergency requires on-site presence.
  • Collaborate closely with a night call fellow who manages first call after hours.
