Job Description

Our client in Indiana seeks a Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for a 90-day assignment starting Aug 19, 2026. This role involves comprehensive patient management, including daily rounding on inpatients and new consults, discharging patients, and significant OR duties such as EVH hemapro 2 and first assisting on various cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and heart failure procedures. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, with onsite coverage from 7am-7pm, and includes emergency OR call.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Daily rounding on all inpatients (ICU, stepdown)
  • Manage new consults and discharge patients
  • Perform OR duties, including EVH hemapro 2 and open vein harvest
  • First assist on cases
  • Handle emergency OR call
  • Manage patient calls, ER consultations, and transfers
  • Provide care for cardiac surgeries (CAB, valves, aortic dissections), thoracic surgeries (robotic, VATs, thoracotomies, lobectomies, wedge resections, decortications, mediastinal mass), vascular surgeries (CEA, AAA, leg revascularizations), and heart failure (LVAD, ECMO, impellas) cases
  • Train new APPs on EVH
  • Expect 8-10 patient encounters per shift


Additional Information

  • Required Board Certifications: Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Cardiothoracic experience required
  • Physician Assistants must know EVH with approximately 500 cases or 10 years of experience
  • Laptop required for call
