Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner - Emergency Medicine Needed in CA

Job Description

We are actively seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner for a compelling 65-day locum tenens assignment in California, commencing on Aug 24, 2026. This vital role involves providing comprehensive care largely independent of physician supervision, addressing low acuity ER cases and higher acuity urgent care patients during shifts scheduled from 10:45 AM – 9:15 PM daily.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Working independent of Physician supervision
• Managing low acuity ER cases (fast track UC to ER role, but higher acuity patients than true UC)
• Performing sutures
• Evaluating patients presenting with Chest Pain (e.g., 40 year olds)
• Assessing undifferentiated abdominal pain
• Conducting pelvic exams
• Handling occasional vertical 3 patients
• Treating lacerations
• Performing eye exams (e.g., using slit lamps)
• Managing headaches
• Authorizing technicians to perform splints
