Job Description

We are seeking a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner for a 45-day assignment in Maine, starting Jul 27, 2026. This role involves delivering comprehensive primary care, including preventative care, managing acute conditions, and overseeing chronic disease management. Shifts are typically 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, serving an underserved community where cultural sensitivity and a patient-centered approach are paramount.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Demonstrate the highest level of compassion, respect, and cultural sensitivity when serving an underserved community at an Indian Health Service (IHS) facility.
  • Maintain a positive, patient-centered approach in all interactions.
  • Provide preventative care and wellness services, including annual wellness checks, health screenings, immunizations, and patient education.
  • Manage acute conditions such as upper respiratory infections, UTIs, skin infections, ear infections, gastroenteritis, minor injuries (sprains, strains, simple laceration repair, minor burns), rashes, headaches, and allergic reactions.
  • Perform chronic disease management for conditions including hypertension, diabetes (Type 2), hyperlipidemia, asthma, and COPD.
  • Conduct common in-office procedures such as blood drawing, wound care and suture removal, incision and drainage of abscesses, cerumen removal, skin biopsies (shave and punch), and cryotherapy for warts and other skin lesions.

  • Mandatory requirement for the provider to demonstrate the highest level of compassion, respect, and cultural sensitivity due to the work site being an Indian Health Service (IHS) facility serving an underserved community.
  • A positive, patient-centered bedside manner is critical; poor bedside manner has led to assignment cancellations previously.
