Locum Tenens Physician Assistant - Surgery - General Needed in NY

Job Description

Our client in New York is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant specializing in General Surgery for a 6-day assignment starting Nov 16, 2026. This role involves 10 to 12-hour shifts, covering surgical first assist duties, operating room time, and medical surgical floor coverage, including daily rounding and managing patient orders. Expect to work with a diverse patient population including General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic cases, with potential for weekend rounding and call nights as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide surgical first assist services.
• Cover medical surgical floor duties, including daily rounding, progress notes, managing orders, admissions, discharges, and consults.
• Perform surgical procedures such as robotics (Da Vinci), OB (c sections), lumpectomies, hernias, laparoscopy, gallbladder, and appendix cases.
• Collaborate with General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic teams.
• Participate in weekend rounding and call nights as required to fill coverage gaps.

Additional Information

• Required Board Certifications: General Surgery.
• EMR System: Epic.
• Shift Hours: 10 to 12-hour shifts.
• Call Schedule: Weekend rounding and call nights are required based on call holes. Call is mostly covered for Jan, Feb, and March, with one or two nights needing coverage. The first week of April will be heavy on call shifts due to vacations.
• Work Setting: This role includes a combination of Surgical First Assist Operating Room time and Medical Surgical Floor coverage.
