Job Description

Our client in New Mexico is seeking a skilled Neurological Surgery Nurse Practitioner for a 240-day assignment starting Oct 5, 2026. This role involves 8-5 shifts, where the practitioner will manage adult and occasional pediatric patients, assessing and coordinating care for various head and spine traumas, chronic cerebral anomalies, and providing post-operative monitoring for neurosurgical patients.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • See mainly adult patients with occasional pediatric patients.
  • Assess, coordinate care, and staff with on-call attending surgeon all head traumas, chronic cerebral anomalies, and on alternating weeks spine trauma and chronic conditions.
  • Respond to trauma calls when likely to involve brain or spinal trauma.
  • Provide post-operative monitoring and management of neurosurgical patients and neurosurgical devices (i.e. EVD, Irraflow, Lumbar drains, etc.) in both the ICU and on the medical floor.
  • Perform nighttime medical management of one of the subacute trauma teams, including emergent management of declining patients pending elevation to ICU care.
