Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Neurological Surgery Physician Assistant for a 240-day locum tenens assignment in New Mexico, beginning Oct 5, 2026. This full-time role operates on an 8-5 day shift schedule at a trauma center. The Physician Assistant will primarily assess and coordinate care for adult patients, including head and spine traumas, with occasional pediatric cases, and manage post-operative neurosurgical patients.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide care for primarily adult patients, with occasional pediatric cases.
  • Assess, coordinate care, and staff with on-call attending surgeon for head traumas, chronic cerebral anomalies, and alternating weeks for spine trauma and chronic conditions.
  • Respond to trauma calls likely to involve brain or spinal trauma.
  • Perform post-operative monitoring and management of neurosurgical patients and devices (e.g., EVD, Irraflow, Lumbar drains) in the ICU and on medical floors.


Additional Information

  • Board Certification in Neurological Surgery required.
  • Experience with Powerchart EMR.
