Locum Tenens Physician Assistant - Surgery - Orthopedic Needed in California

Our client in California is seeking an Orthopedic Physician Assistant for a 120-day assignment. This role involves a Monday-Friday schedule from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, rotating between clinic and surgery, and includes approximately one weekend of hospital duties per month. The Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive orthopedic patient care, managing evaluations, pre/postoperative care, surgical first assisting, injections, and coordinating care in clinic, emergency department, and perioperative settings. Travel between three sites is required.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide comprehensive orthopedic patient care across clinic, Emergency Department, and perioperative settings.
• Perform patient evaluation and management, including preoperative and postoperative care.
• Serve as a surgical first assist.
• Administer orthopedic injections.
• Manage telephone triage and patient follow-up.
• Coordinate patient care throughout the surgical and clinical journey.
• Address general orthopedic conditions and injuries.
• Manage sports-related injuries.
• Handle orthopedic surgical evaluations, procedures, and injections.
• Conduct emergency department orthopedic consultations and treat acute injuries.
• Oversee orthopedic clinic evaluations and follow-up visits.

• Call Schedule: Approximately one weekend per month of in-house hospital duties
• Patients Per Day: 15-30
• LOA: 120 days
• Staffing Mix: Full hospital staff including Orthopedic surgeons, MAs, and Nursing staff
• Requirements: Ability to travel between three sites
