Locum Tenens Physician - Pediatric Endocrinologist Needed in Ohio

Our client in Ohio seeks a skilled Pediatric Endocrinologist for a 56-day assignment, ideally commencing around November 2, 2024. This role involves comprehensive 24-hour shifts, covering hospital rounds, outpatient office visits, inpatient consults, and managing parent phone calls. The schedule includes office hours Monday through Friday, supplemented by extensive after-hours and weekend call responsibilities, focusing on a broad spectrum of pediatric endocrine conditions such as diabetes, growth disorders, and thyroid abnormalities.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Manage 7-14 shifts per month, including 24-hour shifts encompassing hospital rounds, outpatient office visits, inpatient consults, and parent phone calls.
• Conduct office hours Monday-Thursday (8am-4:30pm) and Friday (8am-12pm).
• Provide after-hours call coverage every weekday and weekend call coverage (phone only for parent calls).
• See approximately 14 clinic patients in a full office day and manage about 1 admission/inpatient per day.
• Address pediatric endocrine conditions including Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes (new diagnoses, insulin, CGM/pump management), early or delayed puberty, growth hormone deficiency, abnormal thyroid function, thyroid nodules/goiter, obesity and metabolic disorders, adrenal disorders, PCOS, disorders of sex development, hypoglycemia, calcium/bone disorders, and pituitary disorders.
• Handle inpatient consults for new-onset or poorly controlled diabetes (including DKA), hypoglycemia, electrolyte abnormalities, adrenal insufficiency, sodium abnormalities, abnormal thyroid labs, abnormal glucose levels, endocrine complications in oncology patients, post-operative endocrine management, and steroid management.

• Staffing Mix: Office includes 1 MD, 1 NP, 2 Dieticians, 1 MA, and 2 Front Desk Associates. Pediatric Subspecialist backup and a large Pediatric Hospitalist team are available.
