Locum Tenens Physician - Psychiatrist Needed in CA

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist to join our client's team in California for an 18-day assignment starting Jun 17, 2026. This role involves managing overall clinical responsibility for mental health programs, overseeing screenings and evaluations, providing medication management and therapy, responding to acute mental health crises, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams during 7a-3:30p shifts.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Maintain overall clinical responsibility for mental health programs within the facility.
• Oversee the completion of mental health screenings and evaluations.
• Perform sick call visits and chronic care visits.
• Conduct rounds in all units.
• Formulate a working diagnosis, develop and implement a treatment plan, and evaluate/modify therapeutic regimens to promote positive patient outcomes.
• Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care.
• Provide medication management, therapy, and other evidence-based treatment plans to address mental health needs.
• Respond to acute mental health crises within the facility.
• Support the rehabilitation of patients and facilitate their successful transition back into the community.
• Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including correctional staff, psychologists, social workers, and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans and ensure staff are responsive to patients’ needs.
• Address cases including crisis intervention and acute psychotic cases.
