Job Description
Our client in CA is seeking an Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner for a 120-day assignment, commencing Aug 31, 2026. This role requires providing comprehensive outpatient care, managing acute and chronic conditions, and performing various urgent care procedures, all within a structured 8a to 5p, 8-hour daily schedule.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide outpatient care for acute and chronic conditions
- Manage acute care cases and walk-ins
- Coordinate referrals and specialty care, including telehealth services
- Deliver culturally sensitive care for the Native community
- Educate patients on lifestyle, prevention, and self-management
- Document care accurately in the EHR
- Support after-hours urgent care needs
- Collaborate with lab, pharmacy, and other departments to ensure patient follow-up
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and PCMH standards
- Perform comprehensive history and physical exams
- Conduct urgent care procedures including suturing, stapling, and laceration repair
- Perform incision and drainage of abscesses
- Provide wound care, including debridement and dressing changes
- Administer IV placement and medication
- Perform and interpret EKGs
- Conduct point-of-care testing and lab review
- Execute basic splinting, joint immobilization, and minor fracture stabilization
- Manage infections with IV and oral antibiotics
- Administer respiratory treatments, including nebulizers
- Provide pain management and medication reconciliation
- Perform minor dermatologic procedures and lesion evaluation
- Coordinate patient education, discharge planning, and follow-up
