Locum Tenens Physician Assistant - Emergency Medicine Needed in CA

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant for a 20-day assignment with our client in California, starting Oct 12, 2026. This role primarily involves working independent of Physician supervision, covering ER 10-hour shifts, and managing a diverse range of low-acuity emergency cases, including sutures, undifferentiated abdominal pain, and eye exams.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Working independent of Physician supervision
• Managing low acuity ER cases (fast track UC to ER role, with higher acuity patients than true urgent care)
• Performing sutures
• Evaluating patients with chest pain (e.g., 40-year-olds)
• Assessing undifferentiated abdominal pain
• Conducting pelvic exams
• Handling occasional vertical three patients
• Treating lacerations
• Performing eye exams (including slit lamp use)
• Managing headaches
• Authorizing technicians to perform splints
