Locum Tenens Physician - Gastroenterologist Needed in NY

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Gastroenterologist for a 25-day assignment in New York, commencing Sep 14, 2026. This role involves a schedule of Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm and Friday from 8 am to 3 pm, complemented by weeknight, weekend, and holiday call coverage. The physician will primarily focus on conducting scopes, managing clinic days, and performing various gastroenterology and hepatology procedures.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Perform scopes and manage clinic days.
• Provide weeknight call coverage.
• Handle 24-hour weekend and holiday call coverage (out of house).
• Conduct a range of gastroenterology procedures including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, esophageal pH testing, and sigmoidoscopy.
• Manage patients with conditions such as Colon Cancer Screening, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Liver Disease, and Pancreatic Disease.
• Administer infusion therapy, including treatment for Crohn's disease.
• Conduct typical clinical consults and follow-ups.
• Perform all GI procedures at the Geneva Surgery Center.

Additional Information

• Board Certification in Gastroenterology is required.
• The client utilizes Epic EMR.
• Work hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Thursday, and 8 am to 3 pm on Friday.
• Call schedule includes weeknight, 24-hour weekend, and holiday call.
