Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - General Needed in NY

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated General Surgery Nurse Practitioner for a 48-day assignment in New York, starting Dec 14, 2026. This role involves 10-12 hour shifts focused on surgical first assist duties in the operating room and medical-surgical floor coverage. Responsibilities include daily rounding, managing patient orders, admissions, discharges, and consults. Some call and weekend rounding will be required, with a heavier call schedule anticipated in early April.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide surgical first assist in the operating room.
• Cover medical-surgical floor duties, including daily rounding, progress notes, managing orders, admissions, discharges, and consults.
• Work primarily with General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic patients.
• Manage a variety of cases such as robotics (Da Vinci), OB (c sections), lumpectomies, hernias, laparoscopy, gallbladder, and appendix.

• Required Board Certifications: General Surgery.
• EMR System: Epic.
• Call Schedule: Weekend rounding and call nights as needed, with call primarily covered for January through March, but heavy call shifts expected in early April due to vacations.
• Work Setting: Inpatient facility (Operating Room and Medical Surgical Floor).
