Locum Tenens Physician - Maternal Fetal Medicine Needed in MS

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician for a 21-day locum tenens assignment in MS. This role involves an 8-hour clinic schedule, potentially including weeknight call and 24-hour weekend call coverage from Friday to Monday morning. The successful candidate will rotate through various outpatient clinics, a regional referral center for fetal anomalies, and hospital service, managing high-risk pregnancies, performing advanced ultrasounds, fetal testing, and a range of invasive procedures.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide care across outpatient clinics, a regional referral center, and hospital service settings.
• Manage 18-24 patients daily in outpatient clinics, including first trimester screening, targeted scans, follow-ups, and fetal testing.
• Conduct 15-20 patient visits daily in the regional referral center, addressing new referrals and follow-ups.
• Perform inpatient fetal testing and manage a hospital census of 10-20 patients, including antepartum, postpartum, and ICU cases.
• Execute advanced obstetric ultrasounds, including first trimester screening, targeted anatomy scans, and fetal anomaly evaluations.
• Perform comprehensive fetal testing, both outpatient and inpatient, such as BPP, NST, and Dopplers.
• Conduct invasive procedures including amniocentesis for diagnostic/genetic purposes and suspected infections.
• Perform occasional elective transvaginal cerclage and manage rare rescue cerclage cases.
• Collaborate with Fellows, Residents, and students, and coordinate multidisciplinary care with specialists such as Neonatologists, Pediatric Cardiologists, and Geneticists.
• Participate in call coverage as assigned, with a Fellow providing first call overnight.

• Work Setting: Blended inpatient and outpatient environments, including dedicated outpatient clinics, a regional referral center for fetal anomalies, and hospital service at a trauma center with a NICU.
• Call Schedule: Potential weeknight call and required 24-hour weekend call coverage from Friday 2 PM to Monday 6:45 AM. Fellow first call overnight.
• Patient Volume: 18-24 patients per day in outpatient clinics; 15-20 patients per day in the regional referral center; 10-20 patient census on hospital service.
• Staffing Mix: Work alongside Fellows, Residents, and students; collaborate with Pediatric Cardiology, Neonatology, Palliative Care, Pediatric Surgery, and Genetics.
• Equipment: Utilize GE Voluson E8/Expert 22 ultrasound machines and AS Ultrasound reporting software.
• Monitoring: OBIX fetal monitoring integrated with Epic.
