Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Pathologist for a 69-day assignment in Illinois, starting Sep 28, 2026. The successful Physician will work a consistent 7:30am-3pm schedule, focusing on a high volume of anatomical pathology cases, including significant bone pathology and performing their own grossing with technical support. This role offers an excellent opportunity to manage a diverse caseload, contributing to an active orthopedic group.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform grossing of specimens with assistance from technicians
  • Manage a high volume of cases, averaging 100–120 total blocks per day across 20–35 patients
  • Interpret approximately 60 GI biopsies daily, typically from 20 patients with three specimens each
  • Evaluate around 40 general biopsies daily, sourced from 30–35 patients, with a focus on thyroid, lung, and liver biopsies
  • Process non-gynecology specimens, including body fluid fixations and fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cytologies
  • Conduct on-site adequacy checks for specimens
  • Perform approximately three frozen sections per week
  • Handle a significant volume of bone-related pathology cases
