Locum Tenens Physician - Pathologist Needed in IL

Job Description

Our client is seeking a skilled Pathologist for a 2-day assignment in Illinois, commencing Oct 5, 2026. This role requires coverage from 9a-5p as the sole pathologist, performing all grossing. Key duties include signing out bone marrow biopsies, general surgical pathology, and cytology cases, along with peripheral blood smears and crystal exams. The physician will also conduct intraoperative adequacy assessments, ultrasound-guided thyroid FNA, CT/US guided biopsies, and various frozen sections.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Perform all grossing procedures independently.
• Operate as the sole Pathologist on site.
• Sign out bone marrow biopsies, general surgical pathology, and cytology cases.
• Sign out peripheral blood smears and crystal exams.
• Sign out clinic biopsies, including general surgery, urology, and gynecology cases.
• Perform intraoperative adequacy assessments for pancreatic endoscopic ultrasounds, ultrasound guided thyroid FNA, and CT/US guided biopsies.
• Conduct frozen sections for tumors, skin lesions, margins, and joints.

Additional Information

• Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology & Clinical Pathology, and Cytopathology required.
• EMR: Meditech EHR.
