Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner for an engaging 24-day assignment in California, beginning Jun 15, 2026. This role involves comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, with a focus on early psychosis care. The successful candidate will conduct psychiatric evaluations and ongoing assessments, working standard daytime hours to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and ensure coordinated patient care.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatments, with a specialization in early psychosis care.
- Deliver compassionate, developmentally appropriate care, respecting patient autonomy and privacy.
- Perform safety assessments and manage psychiatric crises, including evaluations and crisis interventions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with patients, families, and team members.
- Provide culturally responsive care, informed by patients' backgrounds and lived experiences.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in adherence with MediCal/MediCare and HIPAA standards.
- Utilize electronic health records and digital communication tools efficiently.
- Administer injectable psychotropic medications.
- Manage a caseload of 40+ patients, conducting frequent appointments to meet individual needs.
- Consult and provide ongoing education to non-medical staff on psychopharmacology and medical aspects of patient care.
- Actively participate in training, supervision, and ongoing learning to maintain clinical excellence.
