Job Description

Our client in California seeks an Urgent Care Physician Assistant for a 120-day assignment starting Aug 31, 2026. This role involves providing comprehensive outpatient care for acute and chronic conditions, managing acute cases and walk-ins, coordinating referrals, and delivering culturally sensitive care within an 8a to 5p, 8-hour daily schedule. The Physician Assistant will be integral in documenting care and supporting after-hours urgent care needs.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide outpatient care for acute and chronic conditions.
  • Manage acute care cases and walk-ins.
  • Coordinate referrals and specialty care, including telehealth.
  • Deliver culturally sensitive care for the Native community.
  • Educate patients on lifestyle, prevention, and self-management.
  • Document care accurately in the EHR.
  • Support after-hours urgent care needs.
  • Work with lab, pharmacy, and other departments to ensure follow-up.
  • Participate in quality improvement and PCMH standards.
  • Perform comprehensive history and physical exams.
  • Evaluate and manage acute and chronic conditions.
  • Execute urgent care procedures including suturing, stapling, and laceration repair.
  • Perform incision and drainage of abscesses.
  • Provide wound care, including debridement and dressing changes.
  • Administer IV placement and medication.
  • Perform and interpret EKG.
  • Conduct point-of-care testing and lab review.
  • Implement basic splinting, joint immobilization, and minor fracture stabilization.
  • Manage infections, including IV and oral antibiotics.
  • Provide respiratory treatments, including nebulizers.
  • Manage pain and reconcile medications.
  • Perform minor dermatologic procedures and lesion evaluation.
  • Provide patient education, discharge planning, and follow-up coordination.
