Job Description
We are seeking a Urologist for a 130-day assignment in Florida, commencing Sep 1, 2026. This role encompasses a broad scope of urological practice, including inpatient consults, emergency department coverage, and comprehensive operating room responsibilities during day shifts, complemented by 24-hour home call coverage. The selected Physician will manage acute urinary retention, hematuria, kidney stones, complicated UTIs, scrotal pain evaluations, and post-operative urologic issues.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Inpatient Urology Consults
- Acute urinary retention (including difficult catheter placement)
- Gross hematuria with or without clot retention
- Obstructing kidney stones (non-traumatic)
- Complicated UTIs / pyelonephritis requiring urology input
- Scrotal pain (torsion rule-out, epididymitis, orchitis)
- Post-operative urologic issues (bleeding, obstruction, infection)
- Basic urologic oncology evaluations (initial workups, not complex cases)
- Emergency Department Coverage
- Respond to non-trauma urologic emergencies such as stone obstruction requiring urgent decompression
- Hematuria requiring cystoscopy or clot evacuation
- Acute urinary retention requiring intervention
- Testicular torsion (urgent surgical evaluation)
- Foley catheter complications or difficult catheter placement
- Operating Room Responsibilities
- Perform standard endoscopic and minor open urologic procedures, including diagnostic cystoscopy and clot evacuation
- Ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy
- Ureteral stent placement and removal
- Transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT)
- Transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) or similar BPH procedures
- Hydrocelectomy and spermatocelectomy
- Circumcision or minor scrotal procedures
- Emergency stent placement for obstructing stones
- Outpatient Clinic Coverage (if included)
- Clinic responsibilities may include new patient evaluations (stones, BPH, hematuria, LUTS)
- Follow-up visits post-procedure
- PSA evaluation / prostate cancer screening workups
- Cystoscopy procedures in clinic
- Call Coverage
- 24-hour home call coverage (no in-house requirement unless specified)
- Respond to ED and inpatient consults as needed
- Manage overnight urologic emergencies (stones, retention, hematuria, torsion)
Additional Information
- Board Certification in Urology required
- EMR: Epic
- Work in a small community hospital setting
- No trauma cases
- No robotics
- High volume of kidney stones
- Manage BPH / urinary retention, hematuria evaluations, UTIs and infections, and basic male urology (scrotal pain, ED workups)
