Locum Tenens Physician - Anesthesiologist Needed in New York

Our client in New York is seeking a skilled Physician specializing in Anesthesiology for a 260-day assignment. This role involves an OR schedule, typically from 0700 to 1700 or longer, including emergencies. Responsibilities encompass comprehensive clinical and surgical anesthesiology services, covering a wide range of operations and procedures, alongside providing critical care coverage in the surgical intensive care unit, short stay unit, acute pain management services, diagnostic trans esophageal echocardiography, and for emergency airway management.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide comprehensive Anesthesiology care, including clinical and surgical services.
• Be present on time for all scheduled surgeries.
• Deliver clinical anesthesiology services for patients undergoing cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, and major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic, and ophthalmologic operations.
• Offer clinical care for patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal, and radiological suites.
• Provide coverage as needed for patients in the surgical intensive care unit, short stay unit, acute pain management services, diagnostic trans esophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients, and emergency airway management.
• Provide consultative services at the patients bedside if admitted, or participate in e-consults.

• Required Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Setting: Clinic and Call
• Call Schedule: Out of house call
• Assignment Length: 260 days
• Facilities: Currently 7 operating rooms, expanding to 11. Out of anesthesia rooms covered include GI, Cath Lab, and IR.
• Monthly Case Volume: The facility handles approximately 350 cases per month.
• Case Types: General surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, GYN, plastics, vascular surgery, podiatry, urology. This includes specific vascular procedures such as carotid endarterectomy, angioplasty, aneurysm repair, abdominal aneurysms, endovascular, peripheral angioplasty, and AV access for dialysis.
• Excluded Cases: No cardiac, neuro, transplant, trauma, or pain cases.
• Required Skills: Proficient in Ultrasound Guided regional anesthesia.
• Staffing Model: Work with a team of Anesthesiologists and CRNAs, following a 1:3 supervision model where Anesthesiologists rarely perform their own cases.
