Job Description

Our client is seeking a General Surgery Physician Assistant for a 60-day assignment in New York, commencing Sep 28, 2026. This role involves providing comprehensive care to hospitalized patients, including surgical assistance with duties such as cauterizing wounds, placing sutures, and closing skin, with weekday and weekend call shifts.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide comprehensive care to hospitalized patients, working closely with physicians and healthcare teams to manage patient treatment and ensure quality care.
  • Cauterize wounds and vessels.
  • Pack sponges in body.
  • Position patient to maintain circulation and access for surgeon.
  • Place clamps and sutures.
  • Close skin with adhesives, sutures, or staples.
  • Apply direct pressure on veins and tissue.
  • Perform or aid in patient suction, drainage, and irrigation.
  • Perform Hemostasis: The stopping of excess bleeding and blood flow.
  • Immobilize patients on the operating table.
