Locum Tenens Physician - Internal Medicine Needed in Kansas

We are seeking a dedicated Internal Medicine Physician for a 120-day locum tenens assignment in Kansas. This role focuses on providing preventative geriatric primary care within an outpatient setting, with the primary goal of managing a patient panel to prevent hospital admissions. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, inclusive of a one-hour unpaid lunch. The ideal candidate will be adept at accurate charting and coding, and proficient with technology.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide preventative geriatric primary care to a diverse patient panel, focusing on reducing hospital admissions and external referrals.
• Manage acute illnesses and infections, along with chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, CHF, CAD, COPD/asthma, CKD, thyroid disorders, osteoarthritis, and chronic pain.
• Address complex geriatric issues including dementia/cognitive decline, falls, mobility, and osteoporosis.
• Conduct annual wellness visits and comprehensive preventive care.
• Oversee medication management and deliver holistic geriatric care.
• Ensure precise and timely coding and charting for all patient encounters.
• Leverage technology and maintain strong organizational skills in daily practice.

Additional Information

• Required Board Certifications: Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, or Internal Medicine.
• Additional Requirements: Basic Life Support (BLS).
• EMR: eClinicalWorks.
• Setting: Outpatient (Clinic Only).
• Call Schedule: No call required.
• Patient Volume: 10-12 patients per day.
• LOA: 120 Days.
• Staffing Mix: The team includes 1 MD, a 1:1 provider to MA ratio, an NP, and dedicated front of house staff for clinic coordination and administration.
