Locum Tenens Physician - Neonatologist Needed in PA

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Neonatologist for a 36-day assignment in Pennsylvania, commencing Dec 1, 2026. The Physician will provide 24-hour in-house NICU coverage, with defined day and night shifts. Responsibilities include daily patient rounds, delivery room coverage, prenatal consults, and supporting transport services, while managing a full range of NICU cases including prematurity, ELBW, and complex surgical cases.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Perform endotracheal intubation, umbilical line placement, chest tube placement, and NRP (routine NICU procedures).
• Provide 24-hour in-house NICU coverage.
• Conduct daily rounds for patients during daytime shifts (0830-1630).
• Provide delivery room coverage and prenatal consults as needed.
• Support transport services.
• Manage ongoing care for NICU patients during nighttime shifts (1630-0830).
• Manage a full range of NICU care, including prematurity, ELBW, gestational age 22+ WGA, and pediatric general surgery cases.
• Utilize high-frequency ventilation (HFOV and HFJV) and therapeutic hypothermia as required.

• Required Board Certification: Neonatology.
• EMR: Epic.
• Work Setting: Inpatient NICU.
• Schedule: 24-hour in-house NICU coverage with defined day (0830-1630) and night (1630-0830) shifts.
• Staffing Mix: Daytime coverage team includes Neonatologists and Neonatal APPs; nighttime coverage is shared between two NICU providers.
