Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for a 120-day assignment in California, starting Aug 17, 2026. This inpatient-focused role involves 8-hour shifts plus call, supporting a high-volume, high-acuity adult CT surgery service across OR, ICU, stepdown, and telemetry floors, with no clinic responsibilities. The ideal candidate will function at the top of their license, managing complex cases within a tertiary/quaternary setting.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Function at the top of your license across OR, ICU, stepdown, and telemetry floors
  • Perform autonomous endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) using the Maquet / Getinge EVH system
  • Provide first assisting across the adult CT surgery spectrum, including CABG (on/off pump), ARV / MVR, complex aortic surgery, and transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support (LVAD, ECMO, temporary MCS)
  • Manage CT surgery patients in the ICU, stepdown, and telemetry floors
  • Demonstrate comfort with hemodynamics, chest tubes, pacing wires, invasive lines, anticoagulation, and rapid escalation
  • Perform on-call duties, rounding on an 18-bed CVSICU and being available for emergencies
