Job Description

Our client in Utah is seeking a Pediatric Surgery Nurse Practitioner for a 156-day assignment, beginning Jul 13, 2026. This full-time role, requiring 40 hours per week, involves comprehensive management of inpatient pediatric trauma and general surgery patients, including assessments, diagnoses, and treatment, alongside participation in trauma activations and ER/inpatient consultations.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Practice within the full scope of licensure, national certification, and approved privileges.
  • Provide comprehensive patient care, adhering to defined credentialing and privileging documentation.
  • Conduct and coordinate patient, family, and staff education to support the continuum of care.
  • Stay informed of current healthcare trends and engage in continuing medical education.
  • Coordinate and collaborate effectively with other care providers.
  • Communicate clinical information accurately and thoroughly to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in research and utilize evidence-based practices to enhance quality patient care and develop best practice standards.
  • Manage inpatient pediatric trauma and general surgery patients aged 0-18, including assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and treatment.
  • Perform daily rounds on inpatients with the surgical team.
  • Conduct ER and inpatient consultations.
  • Provide timely responses to trauma, ECMO, and massive transfusion activations.
  • Execute procedures such as drain removal, gastric tube replacement, dilation of gastrostomy tracts, and repair of simple lacerations.
  • Serve as a first-assist in the operating room as required.


Additional Information

  • EMR: Epic
  • Requires inpatient pediatric general surgery/trauma specific experience.
  • Experience with performing primary and secondary surveys in trauma activations is essential.
  • The role demands adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to deliver high-quality care in a high-acuity, stressful environment.
  • Physical dexterity and stamina are required to perform clinical duties, including lifting, transferring patients, and navigating dynamic clinical settings.
