Job Description

Our client in Indiana is actively seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for a 30-day assignment beginning Sep 14, 2026. This role involves a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM with night call, focusing on critical surgical support including vein and artery harvesting, first assist duties, and comprehensive acute and chronic patient care including daily rounds and post-operative management.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide first assist duties in the operating room, including vein and artery harvesting using the Maquet system.
  • Conduct acute and chronic patient care, performing histories, physical examinations, and inpatient and outpatient consultations.
  • Complete discharge summaries and monitor patient therapies and medications.
  • Manage post-operative care such as chest tube removal, pacing wire removal, cardiac rehabilitation, nutritional needs, and wound care.
  • Ensure all patient care documentation is thoroughly completed.
  • Participate in daily hospital rounds.

  • Board Certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery is required.
  • EMR System: Epic
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with night call from 4:00 PM - 7:00 AM.
