Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner for a 90-day assignment in Indiana, starting May 11, 2026. This role involves comprehensive patient care, including daily inpatient rounding, new consults, and discharge management, complemented by diverse OR duties such as EVH and first assisting on complex cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries, with on-call responsibilities for shifts starting 7am-4:30pm.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform daily rounding on inpatients in ICU and stepdown units.
  • Manage new consults and facilitate patient discharges.
  • Execute various OR duties, including EVH hemapro 2, open vein harvest, and first assisting on cases.
  • Train new APPs on EVH procedures.
  • Participate in emergency OR call.
  • Provide care for specialties such as cardiac surgeries (CAB, valves, aortic dissections), thoracic procedures (robotic surgeries, VATs, thoracotomies, lobectomies, wedge resections), vascular interventions (CEA, AAA, leg revascularizations), and heart failure treatments (LVAD, ECMO, impellas).
  • Handle patient management calls, ER consultations, and transfers from other hospitals.
  • Manage 8-10 inpatient encounters per shift.
