Job Description

Our client in Indiana seeks a Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner for a 7-day assignment starting May 7, 2026. This role involves comprehensive patient management, including daily inpatient rounds, new consults, discharges, and active participation in the OR as first assist for complex cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures. Shifts are from 7am to 4:30pm, followed by on-call duties.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Daily rounding on inpatients (ICU, stepdown) and managing new consults.
  • Discharging patients and facilitating transfers from other hospitals.
  • Performing EVH (Endoscopic Vein Harvesting) and training new APPs on EVH.
  • First assist on cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and heart failure cases.
  • Participating in emergency OR call.
  • Managing patient calls and ER consultations.
  • Seeing 8-10 inpatient encounters per shift.
  • Working with specialties including cardiac surgeries (CAB, valves, aortic dissections), thoracic (robotic surgeries, VATs, thoracotomies, lobectomies, wedge resections), vascular (CEA, AAA, leg revascularizations), and heart failure (LVAD, ECMO, impellas).
  • Working in a Trauma facility.
