Job Description

We are seeking a Physician Assistant - Surgery - Cardiovascular & Thoracic for an exciting 84-day assignment in Indiana, starting May 25, 2026. In this role, you will manage 7p-7a shifts, focusing on daily rounding for inpatients, new consults, and patient discharges, typically seeing 10-15 patients daily within a 20-30 patient census. Your responsibilities will span critical care for a diverse range of complex cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and heart failure cases.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform daily rounding on all inpatients, including ICU and stepdown units.
  • Manage new consults and facilitate patient discharges.
  • See an average of 10-15 patients daily, with a total patient census typically ranging from 20-30.
  • Provide critical care for cardiac cases, including adult cardiac surgeries such as CAB, valves, and aortic dissections, often with high acuity patients.
  • Handle thoracic surgeries, primarily robotic procedures, but also VATs and thoracotomies for lobectomies, wedge resections, decortications, and mediastinal mass, excluding esophageal cases.
  • Manage open vascular surgeries, including CEA, AAA, and leg revascularizations.
  • Care for heart failure patients involving LVAD, ECMO, and impellas.
  • Focus exclusively on critical care, with no first assist duties.
