Job Description

We are seeking a Critical Care Hospitalist Physician for a 3-day assignment with our client in Alabama, commencing May 15, 2026. This role involves providing comprehensive critical care and consultative services to ICU patients, including essential bedside procedures and ventilator management. The schedule features Monday through Friday shifts from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, complemented by a rotating call schedule for nights and weekends.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage critical care patients (SICU, MICU, CVCU, CCU).
  • Provide consultative services to ICU patients.
  • Perform bedside procedures including ventilation management (invasive and non-invasive), chest tube insertion, and bronchoscopy (with bronchial alveolar lavage BAL).
  • Execute insertion of Central, Arterial, PA, and Intra-Aortic Balloon pump (IABP) catheters.
  • Conduct ICP evaluation and management, dialysis catheter placement, diagnostic/therapeutic taps, lumbar punctures, paracentesis, and thoracentesis.
  • Evaluate and manage acute volume and blood pressure issues.
  • Oversee ventilator management and provide pulmonary and critical care related services.
  • Manage a patient load of 20-25 per shift, with approximately 5-7 admissions and 2-3 phone consults during call shifts.


Additional Information

  • Board Certifications required: Critical Care Medicine, Internal Medicine.
  • EMR: Cerner.
  • Trauma level facility.
