Job Description
Our client is seeking a Family Practice Physician Assistant in California for a 150-day assignment starting May 20, 2026. This role involves managing a patient volume of approximately 18, handling medication refills, conducting annual wellness exams, managing chronic diseases like hypertension and diabetes, addressing basic mental health needs, and providing comprehensive care including PrEP/PEP screening and hormone therapy initiation/maintenance for a diverse patient population. Shifts are from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 10:00am to 7:00pm.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage a patient volume of roughly 18
- Maintain patient medication refills
- Manage chronic diseases including hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and asthma
- Conduct annual wellness exams and employment physicals
- Perform follow-up visits for chronic labs
- Manage basic mental health needs, including SSRI/SNRI titration for anxiety and depression, with referrals to specialized therapy networks as needed
- Perform PrEP and PEP screening for HIV/STI
- Initiate and maintain hormone therapy, including prescribing and adjusting Testosterone (IM/SubQ/Gel) or Estrogen + Anti-androgens (Spironolactone)
- Monitor hormone therapy through checks of total/free Testosterone, Estradiol, CBC for polycythemia, and BMP for potassium levels
