Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly skilled General Surgeon for a focused 17-day locum tenens assignment in North Carolina, with an anticipated start date of Jul 10, 2026. This position primarily involves 24-hour call shifts beginning at 7 AM, providing essential general surgery services. Responsibilities will include a range of procedures such as hernia repair, cholecystectomy, breast surgery, endoscopy (EGD and colonoscopy), appendectomy, and small bowel and colon surgery, all within a call-only coverage model.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform a comprehensive range of general surgical procedures including hernia repair, cholecystectomy, breast surgery, removal of lumps and bumps, and abscess drainage.
  • Conduct endoscopic procedures, specifically EGD and colonoscopy.
  • Manage cases involving appendectomy, small bowel surgery, and colon surgery.
  • Provide 24-hour call coverage exclusively.
  • Work within a trauma facility.


Additional Information

  • Board certification in General Surgery is required.
  • Experience with Meditech EHR system.
  • An active North Carolina medical license and NC DEA registration with an NC address are essential.
  • Must be credentialed with NC Medicaid.
  • Credentialing with Medicare and Medicaid, and enrollment with PECOS as a provider, are mandatory.
  • A clean background is highly preferred, with no recent or open malpractice cases.
  • Expect to provide 4 hours of gratis daily.
