Job Description

We are actively seeking a skilled Neonatologist for an engaging 45-day locum tenens assignment in California, beginning Apr 27, 2026. This vital role involves covering 12-hour day shifts within the NICU, transitioning to overnight out-of-house call. The Physician will manage NICU cases, attend high-risk deliveries for infants 30 weeks and up, and perform critical procedures including intubations and line placements.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide 12-hour day shifts in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) from 8:30am to 8:30pm.
  • Manage out-of-house call from 8:30pm to 8:30am each night following day shifts.
  • Oversee NICU cases, attending to an average daily census of 21 patients.
  • Attend high-risk deliveries for infants 30 weeks gestation and up.
  • Perform critical medical procedures including intubations and PICC/Umbilical line placements.
  • Provide oversight for advanced therapies such as High-Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation (HFOV), nitric oxide, and induced hypothermia.
  • Handle other inpatient admissions as required.
  • Collaborate within a facility delivering approximately 350 babies per year, with L&D on the same floor as the NICU.
