Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Neurological Surgery Physician Assistant for a 168-day assignment in New Mexico, starting Jul 13, 2026. This role involves working 6p-6a shifts, primarily caring for adult patients with some pediatric cases, and providing critical support in neurological surgical care. The Physician Assistant will play a vital role in assessing and coordinating care, responding to trauma calls, and managing post-operative neurosurgical patients.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assess, coordinate care, and staff with on-call attending surgeon all head traumas, chronic cerebral anomalies, and on alternating weeks, spine trauma and chronic conditions.
  • Respond to trauma calls when likely to involve brain or spinal trauma.
  • Perform post-operative monitoring and management of neurosurgical patients and neurosurgical devices (i.e. EVD, Irraflow, Lumbar drains, etc.) in both the ICU and on the medical floor.
  • Provide nighttime medical management for one of the subacute trauma teams, including emergent management of declining patients pending elevation to ICU care.


Additional Information

  • Required Board Certifications include Neurological Surgery, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC), and Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP).
  • The EMR system utilized is Powerchart.
