Job Description

We are seeking a Pediatric Physician Assistant - Surgery for a 156-day assignment in Utah, starting Jul 13, 2026. The ideal candidate will work 40-hours per week, focusing on primary and consulting management of inpatient pediatric trauma and general surgery patients, conducting ER and inpatient consultations, and responding to trauma and other critical activations. This role involves comprehensive patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and documentation within a high-acuity service.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide comprehensive patient care and perform other duties as permitted by licensure and defined within credentialing and privileging documentation.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate patient and family education, providing appropriate instruction to support the continuum of care.
  • Train other staff in areas of clinical expertise and provide teaching to students as appropriate.
  • Stay abreast of current trends in healthcare practice and participate in continuing medical education.
  • Coordinate and collaborate patient care efforts with other care providers, communicating clinical information timely, accurately, and appropriately.
  • Manage inpatient pediatric trauma and general surgery patients aged 0-18, including assessment, diagnosis, medication management, treatment, and daily rounding.
  • Perform ER and inpatient consultations, encompassing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, admission, and documentation.
  • Respond timely to trauma activations, ECMO activations, massive transfusion activations, and telehealth consultations with support from the on-call surgeon.
  • Perform procedures such as drain removal (chest tubes, surgically placed drains), gastric tube replacement, dilation of gastrostomy tracts, repair of simple lacerations, anal dilations, and rectal irrigations.
  • First-assist in the operating room when needed.


Additional Information

  • EMR: Epic
  • Inpatient pediatric general surgery/trauma specific experience is required.
  • Experience with performing primary and secondary surveys in trauma activations is required.
  • First-assist skills in the operating room are recommended but not required.
