Job Description

We are seeking a Cardiovascular & Thoracic Nurse Practitioner for a 90-day assignment in Indiana, starting Aug 19, 2026. This role involves comprehensive patient management, including daily inpatient rounding in ICU and stepdown units, new consults, patient discharges, and significant OR duties. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, with onsite coverage from 7am to 7pm, and includes first assisting on cases, performing EVH procedures, and handling emergency OR call for various cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and heart failure surgeries.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform daily rounding on inpatients in ICU and stepdown units.
  • Conduct new consultations and manage patient discharges.
  • Execute OR duties including EVH hemapro 2 and open vein harvest.
  • First assist on a variety of cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and heart failure surgical cases.
  • Participate in emergency OR call.
  • Manage patient management calls and ER consultations and transfers.
  • Expected to handle 8-10 patient encounters per shift.
  • Engage in training new APPs on EVH procedures as needed.
  • Specialties include cardiac surgeries (CAB, valves, aortic dissections), thoracic surgeries (robotic, VATs, thoracotomies, lobectomies, wedge resections, decortications, mediastinal mass), vascular surgeries (CEA, AAA, leg revascularizations), and heart failure (LVAD, ECMO, impellas).


Additional Information

  • Required Board Certifications: Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • EMR System: Cerner
  • Candidates must possess strong cardiothoracic experience.
  • Physician Assistants applying for this role should have approximately 500 cases or 10 years of EVH experience.
  • A laptop is required for call duties.
