Job Description

Our client in Tennessee is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant - Surgery - Cardiovascular & Thoracic for a 152-day assignment starting Jun 15, 2026. This challenging role involves assisting in complex open-heart and cardiovascular surgeries, managing critical care patients, and providing comprehensive pre- and post-operative support within a demanding surgical environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of advanced surgical procedures.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in CABG and open-heart surgeries, including valve repair and replacement.
  • Perform EVH/vein harvesting with demonstrated independent ability.
  • Gain SFA exposure and perform sternotomy closure.
  • Provide critical care management, particularly in the CV ICU.
  • Deliver comprehensive pre- and post-operative care.
  • Manage Impella, endoscopic radial artery harvesting, chest tube placement, arterial/venous sheath placement, and central venous line placement.
  • Manage approximately 10 patient encounters per shift.


Additional Information

  • EMR: Cerner
  • Experience required as a Surgical First Assistant (SFA) in Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgical procedures.
  • Fellowship 2 required.
