Job Description

Our client is seeking a Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner for a 120-day assignment in New York, commencing Jul 6, 2026. This role involves standard 5-day shifts from 8:00 to 17:00, focusing on the referral of complex cases to collaborating physicians, providing medical and emergency interventions, and prescribing and monitoring medications.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Refer complex and high-priority cases to collaborating physicians concerning complicated diagnostic problems, serious illness, complicated therapeutic issues, and re-evaluation of chronic conditions.
  • Provide medical and emergency interventions appropriate to the client’s needs, including prescribing and monitoring medications relevant to the diagnosis.
  • Evaluate medical problems of acutely ill adult patients in the assigned Gastroenterology/Internal Medicine practice setting and request consultation of other specialties when indicated.
  • Provide education to patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications pertinent to the patient’s condition.
  • Document all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations.
  • Facilitate evaluation of records by physician(s), peers, and quality standards according to protocols.
