Job Description

Our client in Montana is seeking a Hospitalist Physician for a 53-day assignment starting Jun 24, 2026. This role involves day shifts from 7am-7pm and nocturnist duties, managing a busy patient census across two Med Surg units and an open ICU, including rounding, admissions, and cross-coverage.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Fulfill a combined Nocturnist/Hospitalist role.
  • Cover two Med Surg Units, and an open ICU.
  • As Nocturnist, cover the entire facility, with a typical census of 30-35 patients.
  • Perform daily rounding on approximately 15 patients.
  • Manage 3-5 admissions per night, with occasional surges up to 8-10 admissions.
  • Execute Nocturnist cross-coverage duties, including managing ICU-level patients at night.
  • Be comfortable with ICU-level patients; a CVT Surgeon is not on 24-hour call but will respond to emergencies, with the Hospitalist providing cross-coverage at night.
  • Respond to emergencies and consult with on-call specialists as needed (e.g., GI consults for GI Bleeds).
  • Shift hours are 7am-7pm on the following dates: June 24-26, June 29-30, July 1-7, July 20-28, July 29-31, August 5-11, August 15-24, September 1-8, December 26-29.
  • No OB or Labor & Delivery responsibilities. Pediatrics cases are rare, with 24/7 peds call available.
  • This is not a trauma center; ATLS is not required.


Additional Information

  • Board certification in Family Medicine or Hospital Medicine is required.
  • The facility utilizes Meditech EHR.
