Job Description

Our client is seeking a Physician specializing in Pediatric Hospitalist for a 7-day assignment in California, commencing Jul 2, 2026. This role involves 24-hour shifts with call, focusing on comprehensive pediatric hospitalist duties including rounding, managing high-risk deliveries, and handling various pediatric cases within a robust nursery setting, often requiring stabilization for transport.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform rounding duties with 24-hour call.
  • Manage a robust nursery in a rural area.
  • Demonstrate strong delivery room skills, including NRP certification.
  • Perform airway management and manage emergency umbilical lines in L&D and the NICU.
  • Manage level III cases, including stabilization for transport which may experience delays.
  • Attend high-risk deliveries (2-3 in a week stretch).
  • Admit uncomplicated and stable pediatric patients.
  • Manage common pediatric cases such as dehydration, pneumonia, and asthma.
  • Oversee 1 to 3 high-risk newborns on the unit, including growing premies, those requiring respiratory support, and neonates needing stabilization and management for transport.
  • Manage cases down to 32 weeks gestational age, facilitating transfers for earlier gestational ages.
