Job Description

We are seeking a Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner for a dynamic 40-day assignment in California, starting Jun 17, 2026. This role involves providing comprehensive Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) services for incarcerated individuals with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), primarily focusing on buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone), across varied day and night shifts.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage induction, stabilization, maintenance, and tapering phases of MAT as clinically indicated.
  • Collaborate closely with correctional healthcare staff, custody staff, mental health providers, and substance use counselors to ensure coordinated, safe, and effective care.
  • Monitor patient adherence, response to treatment, and potential diversion risks within a correctional setting.
  • Provide patient education on OUD, MAT, relapse prevention, overdose risk, and continuity of care upon release.
  • Participate collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to create individualized treatment plans that address medical, behavioral health, and social determinants of health.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record, including MAT-specific reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in discharge planning and continuity-of-care coordination, including referrals to community-based MAT providers upon release.
  • Maintain compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations related to controlled substances, MAT delivery, and correctional healthcare standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and program development related to OUD and MAT services.
