Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Cardiovascular & Thoracic Nurse Practitioner for a 120-day locum tenens assignment in Michigan, starting Aug 3, 2026. This vital role involves 12-hour shifts in an IP/hospital-based setting, primarily covering the CVICU. The chosen professional will perform critical duties, including thoracentesis, chest tube insertions, and the placement of various catheters and lines, potentially assisting with CV surgery consults on weekend shifts.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform thoracentesis
  • Execute chest tube insertions
  • Place central venous and dialysis catheters
  • Place arterial lines and intra-aortic balloon pumps
  • May assist with cardiovascular surgery consults on weekend shifts
  • Provide coverage in an inpatient / hospital-based setting, specifically the CVICU
  • Manage an average census of 8-12 patients
  • Work within a Trauma Center

  • Required Board Certification: American Association of Nurse Practitioners (ANNP)
