Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Optometrist for a 60-day assignment in Maine, commencing Jun 1, 2026. This full-time role, requiring 40 hours per week, involves delivering essential optometry services within a general FQHC center. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive eye care and support the department's mission to serve the community.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams
  • Conduct contact lens fittings
  • Provide diabetic eye exams
  • Monitor for glaucoma
  • Perform dry eye evaluations
  • Diagnose and treat red eye/conjunctivitis
  • Perform foreign body evaluations
  • Manage post operative cataract/lasik care
  • Provide vision therapy
  • Offer urgent care for conditions like flashes, floaters, and eye pain
  • Perform refraction procedures
  • Conduct tonometry
  • Execute slit-lamp exams
  • Perform fundus exams (dilated)
  • Interpret OCT results
  • Administer visual field testing
  • Provide contact lens training
  • Perform foreign body removal
