 We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner specializing in Addiction Medicine for a locum tenens position at a Chemical Dependency facility in New York. This 30-day assignment begins on 07/13/2025, with a flexible schedule of 3-6 hours per day, typically from 7 am to 1 pm, including at least one weekend day per week. The NP will be responsible for initial addiction/psych admissions, patient evaluations, follow-up appointments, and rounding on detox and residential patients. The role includes managing a detox unit and a residential unit, with occasional after-hours availability for phone consultations. This position offers an opportunity to provide crucial care in a newly established facility with potential for extension.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Conduct initial addiction/psych admissions and evaluations (approximately 45 minutes each)
  • Schedule and perform follow-up appointments on a weekly or bi-weekly basis
  • Round regularly on detox patients and occasionally on residential patients
  • Manage care for patients in a detox unit and a residential unit
  • Be available for after-hours phone consultations (1-4 calls per month on average)
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using the Kipu electronic health record system
  • Adjust treatment plans and medications as needed
  • Provide patient education on addiction management and recovery
  • Participate in team meetings and care coordination efforts
